Physical Therapy

Modern physical therapy has its roots in the rehabilitation of injured WWII veterans. It has evolved through the years to encompass a fascinatingly wide range of patients that require some form of skilled assistance in returning to either their prior level of function, or a modified level of function. Physical therapists can be found in a variety of settings, from schools working with developmental problems in children, to inpatient rehab hospitals working with spinal cord injuries, to outpatient settings like GEPT. The educational requirement to become a physical therapist has evolved through the years as well. In order to become a physical therapist today you must first complete a four year bachelors degree, followed by three years of graduate school culminating in a doctorate in physical therapy or DPT.
