Leah Parisi, PT

leah1Leah Parisi, PT, DPT, CSCS

Leah grew up in Agoura Hills, CA where she played soccer and volleyball throughout her formative years and high school. During that time she was introduced to physical therapy as a profession, not from her own injuries, but through her mom’s diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. The therapist’s dedication to her mom’s successful outcome inspired her to pursue a career in physical therapy. She began that journey at San Diego State University where she received her B.S. in Kinesiology in 2011. Throughout college she worked as a physical therapy aide in order to gain experience and knowledge of the field. Following SDSU she moved on to attend CSU Northridge where she received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2015. During grad school, Leah earned her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and took a semester course in Pilates, which she incorporates into her practice today.

As part of her DPT education Leah interned at George Erb Physical Therapy. This allowed her to develop her knowledge and manual skills for a wide range of patients and diagnoses. She enjoyed the camaraderie and wealth of knowledge amongst the clinicians here, leading her to pursue a job working for George upon completion of her degree.

As part of the degree program at CSUN, cohorts are required to complete a research project. Leah and her colleagues’ work on aquatic therapy for chronic pain was recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association at their Combined Sections Meeting where they were asked to present it. Currently they are working to have their work published.

In her spare time Leah enjoys spending time with her husband, working out, reading, cooking healthy meals, and baking anything with chocolate in it!
